THOUGHTS ARE WITH THE BLADENSBURG VOLUNTEERS

Saturday, April 27, 2013  Landover Hills Volunteers would like to keep in its thoughts its border company, Bladensburg Volunteers, on the loss of one of their own. Brian Johnson lost his life early Saturday morning in a vehicle collision in Pasadena. Brian was a regular face on the engine and truck keeping the "100% Volunteer" at Bladensburg alive and strong. Brian...you will be missed by many, but forgotten by none.

   


 

TOWNHOUSE FIRE IN LARGO

Friday, April 26, 2013  Just before 1500hrs., units were alerted to the 500 BLK of Harry S. Truman Drive (Co. 46's first due) for the report of a townhouse on fire.  Co. 6 AOS to find a two story end of the row townhouse with fire showing through the roof. E830 (third due engine) protected the "B" exposure and C830A had "Division 1" of the fire building.  An aggressive attack by all units contained the fire to the townhouse of origin.

MASSIVE MULCH FIRE IN UPPER MARLBORO

Wednesday, April 24, 2013  In the early evening tonight, units were alerted to the 2000 Blk of Richie Marlboro Road (Richie Landfill) for the report of an outside fire.  Co. 37 AOS to find a 200x500 mulch pile well involved.  Units from all over Prince George's County assisted along with foam units from NDW, BWI, and Andrews.  Engine Co. 30 completed a relay and flowed water on the southside of the hill for almost five hours before the fire was brought under control.

MEDICAL AMBULANCE BUS RETURNS TO SERVICE AND MAKES ITS WAY AROUND THE COUNTY

Tuesday, April 23, 2013  Medical Ambulance Bus 830 (MAB830) returned to service over the weekend after almost two months out getting various upgrades including a wench, additional patient capacity, and a bariatric lift.  Upon its return, MAB830 handles calls in Upper Marlboro and Oxon Hill for mass casualty incidents, including a bus accident where nearly 30 patients needed transport.  

   


 

CRASH ON THE PARKWAY WITH AN AUTO OFF

Wednesday, April 10, 2013  Just after 1500hrs., units were alerted to the BW Parkway at Riverdale Road (Co. 30's first due) for the report of a crash with a vehicle on fire.  Units AOS to find a single vehicle collision with one of the road, into the tree and on fire.  Co's 30 and 9 AOS and checked the vehicle for victims, but advised the driver made it out.  A809 evaluated one for transport while the engine companies dealt with the auto fire and brush in the median.  C830A had the command and held units for about an hour to deal with the subsequent brush fire.

     



 

CHILD STRUCK BY AUTO IN BLADENSBURG

Tuesday, April 9, 2013  Just before 1500hrs., units were alerted to Port Towns Elementary in Bladensburg for the child struck by the auto.  Units AOS to find a 5 year old child with various injuries.  A838 with the parademic from E830 on board transported trauma patient to Childrens National Medical Center.  County Police will handle the investigaton.

   


 

DAYSIDE SHOOTING AT LOCAL GROCERY STORE

Monday, April 8, 2013  Just after 1700 hours, units were alerted to the 6500BLK of Landover Road (Co. 30's first due) for the report of a shooting at the Aldi Grocery Store.  E830 AOS to find one adult male victim with NLT gun shot wound.  MD830 transported male to PGHC.

   


 

TRAP JOB IN THE FIRST DUE

Monday, April 8, 2013  Just before midnight, units were alerted to the area of Annapolis Road and Cooper lane for the collision.  E830 AOS to find a two vehicle collision with one occupant trapped.  RS801 and PA806 were added to the run.  Patient was extricated and transported to DCH.

   


 

CO. 30 PLACES NEW ENGINE IN SERVICE

Sunday, April 7, 2013  The Officers and Members of the Landover Hills Volunteer Fire Department are proud to announce the addition of a new engine company to the fleet, which was placed in service today, Sunday April 7, 2013.  The engine company was part of a bulk order of 19 pieces purchased by Prince George's County Fire/EMS Department of new apparatus this Spring.  The Pierce Arrow XT was added to the fleet already held at Co. 30 consisting of E830B, A830, MD830, MAB830.

Monday, March 25, 2013  Just before 0800hrs., units were alerted to the 10000 BLK of Lanham Severn Road for the report of a collision with people trapped.  Units AOS to find a two vehicle collision with two occupants trapped.  One victim was pronounced dead on the scene, two others were transported to area trauma centers.  One of those two victims died of his injuries.
