Just before 0700 hours., units were alerted to the 600 BLK of Balboa Avenue (CO. 5's first due) for the report of a house fire. Units AOS to find nothing evident. Further investigation showed fire in the walls. Units operated for about thirty minutes before returning to service.

Just after 0130hrs., units were alerted to NB BW Parkway in the area of Riverdale Road (Co. 30's first due) for the report of a crash with possible entrapment. Units AOS to find a two vehicle collision, with one off the roadway and one occupant trapped in each vehicle. Units assessed both vehicles while RE833 extricated both occupants. Patients were transported to area hospitals. Units returned to service within about 35 minutes.

Just before 1630hrs, units were alerted to the 7500BLK of Newberry Lane (CO. 48's first due) with County Police on the scene reporting a house fire. Units AOS to find a 1 1/2 story, single family dwelling with smoke showing. Units worked for about thirty minutes before the assignment was scaled back.

Just after 0300 hrs, upon clearing a crash on the beltway, E828 was involved in a serious collision. A830 and E833B AOS quickly, as they were clearing the same crash. We wish all involved a speedy recovery, and we will continue to keep all the West Lanham Hills Volunteers in our thoughts.

At approximately 1430 hours, units were alerted to the 5700 BLK of Hamilton Street (Co.9's first due) for the report of a house fire. Co. 9 AOS with smoke showing locating a small fire in the basement. Units operated for just over 45 minutes before returning to service.

Just before 0200hrs, units were alerted to the BW Parkway in the area of Annapolis Road (Co 30's First Due) for the report of a vehicle collision with one trapped and unconscious. Units AOS to find one vehicle which had struck a tree and guardrail with one adult male trapped, unconscious. Chief 830A had the command; RS801 extricated one and M830 crew transported patient on board A807 to PGH.

Just after 1930hrs units were alerted to the 7600BLK of Fontainbleau Drive (Co. 28's first due) for the apartment fire, bringing E830 as the second due engine. As units were responding, Communications provided a supplement advising they had a report of people trapped, possibly people jumping from the balconies. Units AOS to find a three story, garden-style apartment building with fire showing from the third floor. Units made an agressive attack and search. One victim had jumped from the balcony and the other succombed to his injuries on the balcony prior to the arrival of crews. The fire is being investigated as "suspicious" and a suspect has been arrested.

Just after 0100hrs., units were alerted to the 4900 BLK of Newton Street (Co. 9's first due) for the report of a house fire. Units from Co. 9 AOS to find a two story, single family dwelling with heavy fire showing from the first floor and basement. Units went to work on both floors to perfrom searches, extingusih the fire and to open up. Units operated for about 90 minutes before returning to service.

Just after 1100hrs on Christmas Eve, units were alerted to the BW Parkway between Annapolis Road and Riverdale Road (Co. 30's first due) for the report of a collision with one pinned. Units AOS to find a single car in the median with one adult male trapped. Patient was extricated by RE33 and flown to an area trauma center where he later died from his injuries.

Just before 1230 hrs., units were alerted to the 6100 BLK of Princess Garden Parkway (Co. 48's first due) for the report of a house fire. Unuts from Co 28 and 48 AOS to find a two story, single family dwelling with heavy fire throughout. Initial units (E830 second due) went to work with an aggressive interior attack. With the bulk of the fire knocked in less than 15 minutes, units remained on the scene for about an hour opening up. Second fire of the day for the Engine Company.
